Welcome to our Blog!

Welcome to Saint Mark's Web site. I'm Marianne Wright, and I am privileged to be serving my 2nd one-year term as Senior Warden on the Vestry. The Vestry is the Board of Directors of the church, on which 13 members of the congregation and the Rector sit. The Vestry makes decisions about how the church is to be run, and makes and executes the church budget.

Our parish is currently "in Rector search" which means that we are actively looking to hire a Rector for the parish. Our former Rector, The Rev. Colville Smythe, retired in July, 2007. We currently have The Rev. Andrew O'Connor with us as Priest-in-Charge. Fr. Andrew serves as Rector in all respects, and can be considered for the permanent Rector position.

Our search process so far has produced a fabulous Parish Profile, which you can access on this site by clicking on the links labeled Parish Profile. The Parish Profile describes who we are as a parish, where we think we would like to be going in the future, and what kind of Rector we are looking for to guide us there.

Currently, the Diocese of Los Angeles is reviewing names of potential Rectors, and in late October, our search committee, lead by parish member Reynolds Cafferata, will be receiving those names to review and contact. The committee is charged with identifying a limited number of candidates that the Vestry will then decide who to call.

Saint Mark's is a vibrant, happy, and busy congregation. We have a terrific school, which adds greatly to the vitality of our parish; our congregation is active in worship, religious study, children, youth and family ministries, and community service. Take a look at the rest of this web site and discover the many areas in which you can become involved in the life of Saint Mark's.

Blessings,

Marianne Wright
